“ Not All Identification Are Created Equal ”

Weiguo  Zhong ,  Lucy Sojung Lee

Peking University

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Emerald Group Publishing, IACMR, and the selection committee whose decision to award us with the 2014 Emerald/IACMR research fund has made the advancement of our enquiry into social responsibility within Chinese firms possible. Our aim is to examine ethical issues from an interorganisational identification perspective with the belief that problems such as food safety, environmental protection, and distribution equality have detracted international attention from the overwhelming  positivity of China's rapidly growing society. We hope that our research will highlight the prevalence of Machiavellian attitudes in interorganizational exchange, and provide workable solutions with which to address the collectively amoral behaviours of firms. We are extremely grateful to the Emerald/IACMR Chinese Management Research Fund and Guanghua School of Management for funding and supporting us in our endeavor to initiate a constructive ethical dialogue in Chinese business

It is really a big surprise for our team that we can get the award and thanks for your esteemed judging panel choosing our paper as a Highly Commended Award winner of the 2014 Emerald/IACMR Chinese Management Research Fund Award. So far, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) becomes more and more important, many firms have participated in the campaigns to fulfill social responsibilities, but the outcomes are of great difference. In fact, the relationship between CSR and consumer responses is not a simple logic of “Good is rewarded and evil is punished”. There is a complex mechanism which has not been deeply discussed in this relationship. So we hope our research can fill this gap and to explore how CSR affects consumers and what are the factors playing a moderating role in this process. We definitely believe that, with the generous funding contributions from the Emerald/IACMR Chinese Management Research Fund, our research goal would be achieved very well. Lastly, we also want to say thanks to the administrative and research support from Wuhan University.

We are highly honored to be awarded the 2014 Emerald/IACMR Chinese Management Research Fund and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Emerald Group Publishing, IACMR and the esteemed judging panel for choosing us as a Highly Commended Award winner. It is really encouraging for us to complete our research project and finish high-quality research papers. In today’s particularly competing markets, managers in China are dedicated to encourage employee creativity in organizations. However, there is a core question that has not been addressed yet – Is creativity always beneficial for organizations? Or does creativity have hidden costs for organizations? We hope our research can deepen the understanding of employee creativity, and thus provide critical practical implications for organizations. The generous funding contributions from the Emerald/IACMR Chinese Management Research Fund will be particularly helpful when we pursue our research objectives. Finally, we are also grateful for the great support from our universities, colleagues, and families.
